If Bergamot essential oil could bring you a fresh bouquet of flowers every day, it would. There’s just something about it that makes your day! It loves to inspire happiness, relieve feelings of anxiousness and help you connect with joy. Bergamot is one my favorite oils for supporting emotional well-being. I like to think of it as a good friend that cheer's me up.
A fun way to use Bergamot (uplifting and calming) and Peppermint (refreshing) is in a foaming hand soap.
You’ll need a 50 ml foam soap bottle for this blend.
"Be Happy" Foam Soap Recipe
2 TBS Castile soap (liquid, unscented) 1 TBS Coconut oil (liquified) 1/4 oz Aloe vera gel (optional) 10 drops Bergamot 5 drops Peppermint
Directions 1) Pour Castile soap and Coconut Oil into bottle 2) Add essential oils 3) Slowly add water into bottle making sure to leave room for the foaming pump 4) Add lid, shake, and you are good to go!
You don’t actually have to measure the aloe vera gel. Just add a “dash,” or a “splash,” and make sure that you leave enough room in the foam soap bottle for the top of the bottle to take up some space when you screw it on.
Many citrus oils are phototoxic (causing negative skin reactions in sun or UV light). There is no need for concern with Bergamot’s phototoxicity in this soap, because it’s a wash-off product, but there will be a lingering fragrance of the essential oils on your hands.
This soap would also be great in the bathroom of a massage shop or yoga studio. I recommend making a fresh bottle every few weeks. Enjoy it!
